National Junior Honor Society, also known as NJHS will be hosting and collecting can food for the local food shelter during the months of November and December as a community service project.
Each individual Lufkin student can bring in can food items to help those in our community. The number of items will be recorded by team. The total number of cans and dry food items will be divided by the number of students enrolled in that grade and track. The team with the highest unit rate per student will be announced as a "Incredible Community Service TEAM". The winning Team prize will be a session to make Nano Liquid Nitrogen Ice Cream with SMILE Camp/NCSU Engineering Students and Staff .
Please have students turn in food items to their core teachers. The number of items, the grade and track will be recorded when picked up by the NJHS committee.
Please consider providing for families who may be in need especially during the fall and holiday seasons.
Sneak Peak: On Wednesday, November 19th, the Lufkin Road Middle School Annual Snowflake Tree Project will be ready for those individuals who are looking to “adopt” a LRMS student for the holidays. Snowflakes with students’ wish lists, interests, and clothing sizes, will be hanging from our Snowflake Tree. The Tree will be outside the main office lobby during the evening of the Lufkin Band Concert, so that attendees of the concert can choose a Snowflake hanging from its branches. The Tree’s permanent Holiday Home is inside the office next to the front desk. We are asking to have all the gifts, either wrapped or unwrapped and clearly marked with the Snowflake Number, brought to the school no later than December 9th. The gifts will be delivered or picked up December 10th – 12th.
